“I just hope I haven’t missed my chance to star in one.”

The low-budget series created film classics including Carry On Camping and Carry On Up The Khyber.

Between 1958 and 1992 the 31 flicks made household names of talents including Hattie Jacques, Sid James and Kenneth Williams.

The most famous scene was in Carry On Camping when Barbara Windsor’s bra flew off during a gym session. And Amanda’s skimpy outfits on BGT have led to speculation that she would be the perfect actress to pull off a scene like that today.

She added: “I don’t see why I couldn’t do it. It’s one of the only ambitions I have left.”

Last year fans were given hope the Carry On franchise would be revived after producer Jonathan Sothcott said there were plans for new films. But earlier this year he confirmed nothing was now in the pipeline.

Amanda has proved she can make audiences laugh in the past in comedies including Big Top, Kiss Me Kate and The Grimleys.

She has focused on presenting and being a judge on BGT in recent years, and has also been busy looking after daughters Lexie, 11, and Hollie, five. But a source said: “Amanda is keen to get back into comedy. “She’s been really busy being a mum for years but once they’re all grown up enough, that’s what she’d love to do.

“She loves the British sense of humour so doing a Carry On film would be perfect. They’d be mad not to snap her up. She loves sticking an innuendo in.”
