Sharon Wilson vowed to lose weight before celebrating her 50th birthday.
This would be no easy task for the 49-year-old, who attempted to slim down for her whole life.
After years of yo-yo dieting and feeling unconfident about her appearance, the Gloucester-based woman has managed to shed the pounds.
Here’s how she managed to lose 3st 8lbs and keep it off.
Sharon battled with her weight since she was a teenager.
She remembered: “I’ve been on a diet all of my life.
“When I was a teenager I was always the overweight one.
“I was secretly jealous of my friends, didn’t feel like I could keep up with fashion trends and I wasn’t very confident.
“In fact, the healthiest weight I ever got to in my younger years was achieved through having Glandular Fever.”
Determined to shed some pounds, Sharon tried eating less and exercising.
Although she managed to lose 1.5st over the years, she found it difficult to maintain the results.
The slimmer explained: “After five years of eating less and moving more I lost a stone and a half.
“The rate of weight loss was so slow I found it really hard to stay on track.
“Also, being given unlimited foods on the plan I was following at the time encouraged me to binge, so before I knew it I was back to square one.”
Deciding to change tactic, she joined LighterLife on the recommendation of a friend.
The regime, which has been promoted by celebrities including Denise Welch, helps dieters to keep on track of their calories with handy Foodpacks.
It also offers support to participants, who can visit local centres or talk to counsellors on the phone.
With the help of the company’s Xpress Slimming Club, Sharon managed to drop 7lbs in seven days.
And to date, she’s torched an impressive 3st 8lbs.
Sharon said: “When I first went to group I was apprehensive. I thought I was diet proof!
“But in my first week I’d lost 7lbs, and in week two I’d lost a further 6lbs.
“The fast rate of weight loss kept me motivated.
“I didn’t have to worry about cooking or calorie counting and my packs gave me more vitamins and minerals than I’d ever had before.
“Learning and understanding more about my relationship with myself and food was really important.”
Losing weight in a healthy and sustainable way has also worked wonders for Sharon’s confidence.
She revealed: “I am more laid back and don’t get as worried now, compared to what I used to.
“I’m no longer worried about my health and feel so much happier in myself.
“My mum is really proud of me and my husband and friends have been really supportive.
“When I went to Centre Parks with the girls I took my Foodpacks with me, and for the first time in years I didn’t worry about being seen in a swimming costume.
“If you’re looking for a diet plan that works go to LighterLife, I wish I’d found it 30 years ago.”
