Mum mortified after finding out having a side parting ‘means you’re really old’

A woman was shocked when she discovered that having a side parting in your hair “is just for old people”, according to her daughter.

The mum was responding to the video by another woman, who said she was “forcing a middle part every day because I don’t want Gen Z to think I am old”.

Unsurprisingly, she was gobsmacked at the news that flattering side-partings are apparently a fashion crime and asked her daughter about it.

She ended up fuming at her daughter’s cheeky response – and she wasn’t the only one.

In her own video, TikTok user @divine_curves11 says: “Ok I am absolutely dying.

“I just saw this video and I turned to my 21-year-old daughter and said, ‘Is the side part just for old people? Is that why you part your hair in the middle?'”

Hilariously, her daughter is said to have replied: “Yeah not to be rude mum, but the side part is kind of the equivalent to an old man comb-over.”

The mum added: “Yeah, she said that. She’s currently homeless.”

Unsurprisingly, the video went viral with more than 5 million views as other people were equally shocked to find out they are “old” and have an outdated hairstyle.

One person asked: “Middle parts were dorks when I was young. What is happening?”

“This hurts my soul and now I need to reevaluate my existence,” commented another person.

A third user said: “I’ve never gasped so loud at a TikTok but ‘old man combover’ I feel attacked.”

Someone else blasted: “I can’t have a middle part I have curly hair and look like one of the founding fathers.”

Meanwhile, other people were quick to defend the side parting and said it tended to be flattering for a lot more people than the trickier center part.

One said: “As a hairstylist, I can tell you this is a kid thing. Most people do not look good with a middle part.”

In agreement, another user said: “Almost nobody looks good with a center part because it highlights any asymmetrical features you have but ok.”
