Veteran Hollywood actor Robert De Niro has reportedly split from his wife Grace Hightower after more than 20 years of marriage.
According to Page Six, the 75-year-old Casino star and his 63-year-old wife are “no longer living together”.
The Godfather Part II star and former flight attendant Hightower married in 1997, 10 years after meeting at Mr Chow in London.
They are parents to two children together, Elliot, 20, and Helen, 6.
De Niro was previously married to actress Diahnne Abbott, from 1976 to 1988 and they share a son, Raphael.
He also adopted Abbott’s daughter Drena from her previous relationship.
The Mean Streets star is also father to two twin boys, Aaron and Julian with ex girlfriend, US actress and model, Toukie Smith.
The pair are yet to officially announce their separation, although it is believed they will speak publicly about it in the coming weeks.
Sources told Page Six: “De Niro and Grace are breaking up.
“He’s been at a few things since the very end of the summer without her — and rumour has it they are done.”
Meanwhile, another source close to the family told told People magazine: “Sometimes things don’t work out the way you hope or want them to.”
Oscar winner De Niro has been notoriously private about his personal life, keeping his family out of the spotlight despite his hugely successful career.
De Niro and Hightower were last pictured together during the Tribeca Film Festival in 2018, and their 21st wedding anniversary followed in June.
This is not the first time the couple have split up as just two years after tying the knot, the megastar filed for divorce.
However, it was never finalised and the pair reunited, later renewing their wedding vows in 2004 according to De Niro’s lawyer.
On one rare occasion, De Niro spoke out about about his feelings on marriage during a 2013 interview with Katie Couric.
The star of Goodfellas said that the secret to a happy union involved “a lot of give and take, standing your ground, because then you keep the respect you started out with”.
