Saturday Morning’s James Martin opens up about weight loss after shedding 6st

Best known for his work with the BBC and ITV, James Martin is a celebrity chef who often shares his cooking skills on television.

During his career, he worked in a number of Michelin star restaurants, as well as appearing on Saturday Kitchen for ten years before fronting his own show, Saturday Morning with James Martin.

And with a career built around food, the 47-year-old easily gained weight, but he has since managed to drop a whopping 6st.

So how did he do it?

The 47-year-old started to manage his diet and ditched butter

The TV chef first started to lose weight when he took part in Strictly Come Dancing.

After the show, he weighed in at 19st 7lbs, which soon changed when he began training.

Following the TV series, James dropped 5st and then another stone by managing his diet and cutting out butter.

James has been open about his weight loss for many years

Not only did he ditch the spread, James also avoided foods high in fat altogether.

Speaking to MailOnline, the culinary mastermind explained: “You kind of watch and go, ‘Oh God there’s a bit of chin happening there’.

“And everybody’s TVs are bigger now. Before you used to watch TV on a small one and now they’re massive.”

James was also affected by the negative backlash he got from viewers watching his show.

He told The Sun: “I looked on social media and every comment was about me being fat. So I lost a stone-and-a-half. And no doubt I’ll lose another stone on this tour.”

Following his journey, James said: “I feel more focused, alert and confident, and my skin’s much better.

“People say they think I’ve actually got taller, which is ridiculous of course, but I suppose it reflects the fact that I do feel more comfortable in myself.”

Another chef to open up about their weight loss transformation is Gordon Ramsay who dropped an incredible 4st.

He recently admitted that his biggest inspiration was his wife Tana.

Gordon told Daily Mail last year: “Tana was not impressed with the way I was. I was overweight, 18st. I looked like a sack of s**t.

“I look at pictures and think, ‘How did Tana stay around?’ Because Tana has got better-looking and more gorgeous. And there she is, getting in bed with a fat f***.”
