At her heaviest, Rachel Pearson from South Yorkshire, tipped the scales at 16st 12.5lbs and wore a UK size 24.
The 32-year-old tried different methods of weight loss, but never found one that was sustainable for her busy lifestyle.
The mum-of-two struggled with confidence and hated being the biggest parent at the school gates.
Determined to live a healthier lifestyle and be a more active parent, Rachel joined her local Slimming World group in Doncaster.
Speaking exclusively to Daily Star Online, the full-time carer, lifted the lid on her incredible transformation.
She said: “I was truly fed up of being overweight and I deserved a healthy lifestyle not just for myself, but for my family too.
“Also after an embarrassing incident at my daughter’s hospital appointment, I knew it was time to do something.
“I basically sat in a chair with arms and when her consultant called for us, I tried to stand up only to have the chair still attached to my bum.
“I quickly pulled the chair off me, but I was absolutely mortified – that was the final straw, I knew it was time to make a change.”
“I was truly fed up of being overweight”
From calorie counting to fasting, Rachel tried a variety of weight loss methods.
And with her busy lifestyle, the majority of the plans were just short-term fixes.
“I needed plan which taught me how to eat healthy and teach me how to have a balance in my diet,” Rachel added.
“Slimming World is an amazing plan which I tell everyone about as it’s totally changed my life.”
Rachel began following Slimming World’s Food Optimising Plan, a method that enables members to make healthier choices without calorie counting.
She began walking and jogging with her friend, then in June she completed the 5K Pretty Mudder.
“My life has had a 360 degree turn, Slimming World has given me my life back,” Rachel told Daily Star Online.
“I hated myself and always avoided mirrors and cameras. Now when I look in a mirror I like what I see back and I’ve been able to accept my body.”
Since her weight loss, Rachel has been able to play with her children and can comfortably fit in plane seats.
She lost 4st 0.5lbs and dropped to a svelte 11st 13lbs. The mum now wears a UK size 10.
Speaking about the diet, the mum continued: “I haven’t cut anything out, Slimming World has taught me that I can still enjoy my favourite treats, like chocolate.
“It’s all about balance and I’ve been taught that through following the Food Optimising Eating Plan.
“My wonderful Slimming World consultant has guided me through my weight loss and given me the tools to make the healthier choices.
“My advice is know you can do this and believe you will achieve. It’s hard work, I wish it was as easy to lose weight as it is to gain it.
“It’ve found it’s all about taking small steps and making simple changes to your lifestyle that will help you achieve your goal.”
